Your Building

I want to donate my property to SFCLT – what are my options?

One of the most incredible things you can do with your home is to use that asset to help create more affordable housing for other San Francisco community members. There are a range of options for homeowners who are thinking about donating property, outlined below. PLEASE SEEK INDEPENDENT LEGAL AND TAX ADVICE BEFORE MAKING ANY DONATION.

Click here for a brief summary of the potential benefits and/or consequences of these options, as well as sample languag for your will or trust.

If you would like to consider donating your building to the land trust, selling at a discount, or have any other creative financing ideas that might aid our efforts to save affordable rental units in San Francisco please contact us at

I want the Land Trust to buy my building - what are my options?

Are you concerned that your building is for sale and that you may be at risk of eviction by the new owner? Or are you concerned that vacant, rent-controlled apartments in your building will lose affordable rents by increasing to "current market rent"?

The San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT) is a nonprofit organization that works with tenants of small apartment buildings to purchase and preserve their building as permanently affordable housing in San Francisco. We do this by making an offer to the owner and using funding from the City of San Francisco to ensure the property will remain "affordable" for low and moderate income people for generations in the future.

Please fill out the information below if you and fellow residents are interested in exploring whether the SFCLT model is a good fit for you and your building. Also, check and see when our next Information Workshop is taking place and come join us to learn more.
